It will do nothing but slow down your leveling progress. Unless you just want to do it for fun, there is literally no reason at all to do the Dark Zone pre-30 on your alt. Also, always matchmake for story missions, as they will go twice as fast with a group. remembering where the virus scan boxes are, and things of that nature. But leveling 1-30 isn’t that bad the normal way, and you will be better equipped to do it more quickly now thanks to it being a second go-through, ie. You can powerlevel your character if you want using select missions, and there are plenty of guides for that. And no, unfortunately crafting materials don’t transfer, so there’s little point amassing those on an alt. They do not transfer over, so it’s really the best idea to have them all on one character. With Phoenix Credits shared, keep all your blueprints bought with your main. So, any tips on building an alt? I have a few, based on the fact I just 1-to-30-ed a character in the past few days. I have no doubt Massive will up stash space down the line but for now? You may need to make extra character at some point for the sole sake of muleing. And that’s per character, so if you’re a gear/weapons hoarder, you can create multiple characters for the express purpose of holding all the extra. If you create an alt, and get them a level 30 backpack, they can hold about 60 extra pieces of crap. The shared stash in The Division is very small for how much gear can be crafted and acquired by your character. This is some late, late endgame stuff, to create two or more viable builds across multiple characters, but honestly, soon enough it may be the only thing really to do, unless you enjoy farming Phoenix Credits and materials for infinite crafting and rerolls to get gear that’s 1% more perfect than you already have.Īh, the old RPG classic, creating an alternate character just for the sheer sake of holding all your crap. Without the ability to favorite gear or save gear sets, this can take a while and be a cumbersome process.īut with a new character? You can simply make them your “alt class.” If you want to run missions or the DZ as an electronics-heavy sniper? Fully gear out your alt for that build, while you keep your main a DPS machine using the Vector and Pakhan. You can’t simply change weapons, or change skills, you have to fiddle around with your entire stat distribution, to make sure your DPS, health and electronics all balance out and unlock the correct perks. Right now, trying to change around your playstyle and even weapon load-out is a giant pain in the ass in The Division. I know I said there are no classes and you’re not locked into different builds, but an alt character can help with build diversity all the same. It’s a terrifying prospect, having a max-geared player with nothing to lose as a Rogue, but thanks to the current system, this has been a big motivator for bored endgame players to create an alternate character.

This is sort of an unfortunate side-effect of the way The Division is set up now, but if you want to enjoy the game’s Dark Zone as a Rogue, you almost have to create an alternate character that has no problem being permanently low level DZ thanks to all the penalties.Īnother character where their Dark Zone rank doesn’t matter is free to wreak havoc whenever they want, and they can do so while geared-up to the teeth, thanks to the main character either providing them with extra items, or simply giving them their whole endgame set through the shared stash.

So in total, that’s potentially 160 Phoenix Credits a day, as opposed to 80, if you have the time to do all that, plus whatever extra you get from killing bosses. And if you can get two characters geared up for Challenge Missions, either independently, or by gear sharing through the stash (you can literally transfer all of your gear from your main to your alt and back again) that’s another hundred Phoenix Credits a day by doing just two Challenge missions, which reward 20 as a baseline and 30 for being the daily.

That means for just the hard missions alone, which any reasonably geared character can complete at 30, that’s 60 Phoenix Credits a day if you complete both hard missions twice.
